EXTENSION CARE

Proper home care is imperative to extending the lift of your investment, which is why I include all of my extension must-haves in your take home care package. Davines is extremely nourishing and perfect for hair extensions. Here is a quick guide on how to best care for the best hair!

Your new hair extensions should be comfortable and flexible form day one. However, it may take a few days for your scalp to adjust to the additional weight, this should not be painful. Your scalp health will be closely monitored through the duration of your extension experience as scalp health is my top priority.

Brushing

  • Brush 2-3 times a day

  • Divide hair down the middle in the back and pull each side over its respective shoulder-pulling all hair to one side can put too much tension on the opposite side

  • Hold the bond of your weft to stop from putting too much tension on your hair, starting at the ends and moving your way up with the brush

  • Brush between your rows to prevent matting

Styling

  • Apply product-especially heat protectant and blow dry the base of your extensions

  • Air dry 50% before using a blow dryer, and 90% before using a round brush to smooth the hair

  • Mids and ends can be air dried, however the base of your extensions must always be blow dried. Failure to do so can cause swelling, fraying, and deterioration of your wefts as well as matting, trapping bacteria and moisture causing yeast and bacterial issues!

  • Keep in mind, wet hair is more fragile and heavier than dry hair, which can add additional tension.

Washing

  • Brush hair before entering into the shower

  • For multiple rows, clip up the top row to ensure you get between the rows and rinse thoroughly between the rows.

  • Always use a conditioner, extension hair is thirsty! and it needs it! A good mask is great to use every few washes. Remember to keep the conditioner and mask away from where the bond is as this will make the extensions slip!

  • You can always do the “top wash”. This consists of just washing your front hairline and crown above your extensions in the sink.

  • While not necessary, I highly recommend a filtered shower head

Do’s and Don’ts

  • DO use sulfate and paraben free products .

  • DO sleep with dry hair in a low pony or loose braid

  • DO saturate hair with tap water or conditioner before swimming, and keep hair braided or in a bun. Minimize chlorine and saltwater absorpti9on into the hair, which can cause discoloration and dryness. It’s best to not get them wet, but we do what we can!

  • DO get a satin or silk pillowcase

  • DON’T go to bed with wet or damp hair! EVER!

  • DON’T use sunscreens with avobenzone-always use a mineral sunscreen. Chemical sunscreens discolor an damage hair extensions

  • DON’T put hair in a bun or pony that applies too much tension, especially to those front extensions. Gently loosen front extension areas, pulling at an odd angle can cause damage.

  • DON’T over use purple shampoo-its extremely drying to extensions and can cause them to turn purple.

  • DON’T go above 350 degrees with heat, and always use a heat protectant.
